Welcome to our school. We hope you enjoy looking around.
Heddington Church of England Primary School is a voluntary aided school situated next to the village hall in the centre of Heddington village. The school was founded on 12th March 1860. We like to be at the heart of the village community and consider community spirit to be essential. We are fortunate to have many community volunteers who come into listen to children read and regularly take an act of Collective Worship.
The original school was Victorian, however, in recent years, we have had a large extension and total renovation which has completely brought us up to date. The grounds have also been transformed and now provide an all weather surface which is 'zoned' to cater for all different types of play! We also have a wildlife area, a covered outside area for the Foundation Stage and a large field which we use as much as we can throughout the year. Whilst we do not have our own hall we do have exclusive use of the Village hall during the day.
Heddington CE is a unique school in the Calne area and is thriving. Our size means that the children who come to us benefit from small classes and relationships with staff that enable the children to receive a high level of individualised learning where the curriculum is tailored for their needs. We consider the countryside to be part of our school and our learning and go on lots of trips in the local area as well as further afield. Recently, we have climbed to the top of Oliver's Castle and also rolled Easter eggs down a large hill near to the school.
We have strong links with the on-site pre-school; Heddington Pre-School and have several joint activities throughout the year. We also work closely with all of our feeder pre-schools to ensure a smooth transition to Heddington Primary.
Our motto is;
‘Sowing Excellence, Harvesting Enjoyment’.
This encapsulates our Church of England ethos, our rural location and expresses our commitment to enabling our pupils to excel in and enjoy all they do.
